Wales has one of the UK’s most active marine energy pipelines, spanning tidal stream, floating offshore wind, and a growing supply chain. Academic partners are central to this growth through research, innovation, and workforce development. We see an opportunity to strengthen links between the sector and Welsh academia, and this session is a first step.

This roundtable for universities, colleges, and education providers engaged in Wales’s offshore renewable energy sector will be a working session, not a presentation. Following an introduction to Marine Energy Wales and the Marine Energy Test Area, we will move into small-group discussions focused on:

  • Research and industry collaboration
  • Career pathways into industry
  • Skills and curriculum

We are keen to understand what is working well, where there are gaps, and how MEW can better align their activities to facilitate increased connection between education, academia and industry.

By joining, you will:

  • Gain insight into the direction of the marine energy sector in Wales and where academic input is most needed
  • Help shape how MEW connects industry with research and education
  • Learn about opportunities for collaboration, including projects and deployments at META
  • Connect with peers and industry partners across the Welsh ecosystem.

We welcome perspectives from across research, innovation, commercialization, curriculum design, and skills development.

Please feel free to share this event with colleagues, particularly those working in skills, curriculum, and careers.
