MarketingKind xChange with Nick Hanauer
In our October 13th xChange Paul Skinner, founder of MarketingKind, will interview Nick Hanauer, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, speaker, author, civic innovator, and fierce critic of America’s growing income inequality, to explore his campaign for a new economic paradigm fit for the 21st century and his forthcoming book Market Humanism.
Nick Hanauer is one of America’s most successful entrepreneurs, having been the first non-family investor in Amazon and having sold one of his own businesses to Microsoft for $6.4 billion. He has now turned to championing purposeful enterprise, civic transformation and the implementation of new economics.
Nick has founded, financed or managed over 30 companies across a broad range of industries including manufacturing, retailing, e-commerce, digital media and advertising, software, aerospace, healthcare, and finance.
Nick is the founder of civic ventures a group of “political troublemakers”, an organisation that unsubscribes from typical political polarity and promotes ideas, policies and actions to bring about social change on both a local and national scale.
He founded the True Patriot Network, a progressive think tank, and kicked off an organising drive that resulted in the first minimum wage law in the United States. He also founded the Nick and Leslie Hanauer Foundation focussing on public education and the environment.
He is the author of The True Patriot and The Gardens of Democracy with Eric Liu, which was described by the then Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as ‘One of the 10 books everyone should read’. They coined the phrase ‘middle out economics’ which subsequently shaped the Biden policy agenda.
He is the co-host of the Pitchfork Economics podcast and his commentary has appeared in The Atlantic, Politico, Bloomberg, and The New York Times.
