Description
Join textile artist Debbie Munford for unique workshops focused on building skills in fabric crafts.
Discover the joy of fabric crafts with these unique workshops focused on building skills and confidence in different decorative techniques and fabric embellishment. Learn how to create your own projects, using techniques like printing or embellishing, culminating with a final decorative fabric panel.
This workshop is open to individuals aged 18 and above and caters to all skill levels, from complete beginners to enthusiasts.
Workshops also work as standalone sessions, so don’t worry if you can’t make them all.
Timetable
Tuesdays 2-4pm at King Edward Centre, Chatteris
- Cyanotype on Fabric – 3rd September: Using pre coated fabric, foliage, and plants from the garden and sunlight, develop permanent images in shades of blue onto cotton fabric.
- Stencilling & printing techniques – 10th September: Create your own decorative fabrics using a selection of different stencils and printing techniques.
- Stamping onto fabric– 17th September: Using a selection of decorative rubber stamps to create a range of different images and text onto cotton.
- Building your decorative panel – 24th September: Using the fabrics you have created in the last 3 weeks, plan and stitch together your final design. Use machine or hand stitching or a combination of both.
- Decorative stitching and embellishments – 1st October: Adding the finishing touches to your design. Decorative stitching, beading, buttons or lace.
Venue accessibility: The venue has disabled access with automatic doors and a disabled toilet is available.
About Debbie Munford: Debs has spent the last 30 years creating textiles. Her journey began in the fashion industry as a woven textile designer for ladies' wear, followed by years as a college lecturer in Art and Design, Fashion, Textiles, and Costume. She now produces a range of unique, one-of-a-kind textiles both in 2D and 3D and runs creative textile workshops, sharing her knowledge with others. Debs set up The Creative Craftorium, a studio to provide workshops and tuition in most creative textile techniques including print, Cyanotype printing, embroidery, mixed media creations and 3D textiles.
