Description
Join artist Sean Dendere and explore the beauty within the mundane, giving attention to things that make up our everyday environment.
A little bit of everything, this workshop series explores poetry, embroidery, collage, soundscape and stop-motion. Have a go at learning embroidery as a mindfulness technique, use your phone to create a stop motion story, create found poems and more.
This workshop is open to individuals aged 18 and above and caters to all skill levels, from complete beginners to enthusiasts.
Workshops also work as standalone sessions, so don’t worry if you can’t make them all.
TIMETABLE
Fridays 6-8pm at King Edward Centre, Chatteris
- Mindfulness Embroidery – 11th October: Teaching embroidery as a process driven practice.
- Found Poetry – 18th October: Creating poems from other's words taken from books, newspapers etc and constructing an alternative meaning.
- Abstract Collage – 25th October: Creating collages from lots of different types of newsprint.
- Half term break
- Found Soundscape – 8th November: Using phone's sound recording capabilities, you will explore the immediate environment to create a soundscape using smartphone or tablet software.
- Stop-motion – 15th November: Using phones and tripods, creating a stop motion story using inanimate mundane objects and editing using smartphone or tablet software.
Venue accessibility: The venue has disabled access with automatic doors and a disabled toilet is available.
About Sean Dendere: Sean is a multidisciplinary designer and artist from Peterborough, UK and Zimbabwe. Sean's artistic and design practice is a captivating journey of multidisciplinary exploration, investigating deep into the themes of playfulness, ambiguity and anthropology. He studied at Central Saint Martins and achieved a first-class degree in Product Industrial Design in 2023. Most recently, Sean concluded an Artist in Residence programme at Metal Culture, where he used his time and funding to direct his first short film titled "No Shoes Inside", which is an exploration of his identity, ritual and home through the metaphor of doing laundry.
