54 years of the Brabyns Bonfire
The Brabyns Bonfire has been a fixture in the Marple calendar for over 50 years, and this is actually our 54th bonfire, which we’re incredibly proud of!
A lot of blood, sweat and tears have gone to making the bonfire a wonderful community event, with too many people to thank for their efforts and dedication over the years.
The event is run completely by volunteers, with all proceeds going to Scouting and Guiding in Marple, to help give young people opportunities for adventure.
Prices
We’ve done our best to keep prices down for local families, though we’ve had to increase them slightly to cover higher insurance, security and soaring firework costs.
Adults – £9.50
Kids (5 – 15 years old) – £6
Under 5s – free
It is a ticket-only event and we have a strict number available, for the past three years we have sold out with no tickets being available on the door.
Timings
The gates will be open from 18:00, and we have catering stalls serving food and drink, including Mulled Wine again this year!
The Bonfire Lighting Procession begins at 19:00.
The Fireworks begin at 19:30 prompt, and usually last for around 20 minutes.
1st Marple Scout Group and Marple District Girlguiding are delighted to bring you our 54th annual bonfire and fireworks display. This annual event promises to bring a fun, community, family friendly event in a safe environment for all.
The event is not for profit and any funds raised will be distributed to support giving young people in the local area opportunities.
Our event starts at 6pm when the gates open and food stalls will be available alongside our mulled wine and sweet stall. The evening continues at 7pm with the Firelighting and our Firework show will commence at 7:30pm. Gates will open at 6pm.
The event has been managed and coordinated in conjunction with advice from Girlguiding UK, Scouting UK, Stockport Metropolitan Council, Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire Service.
First Aid Services are provided by members of Kinder Mountain Rescue.
Volunteers from local groups have come together to help put on the event – these groups include 1st Marple Scout Group. Marple Girlguiding, Marple Rugby Club, Marple Runners, and Friends of Brabyns Park – we want to thank them all for their generous offer of time to support this event.
