Healing Systems: Through Trauma-Responsive Practices

Wed Dec 9, 2026 9:00 AM - Thu Dec 10, 2026 4:00 PM CST MM Training Centre, R2V1X4

Trauma is a core issue in health, education, and human service systems, affecting not only clients, but also the professionals who support them. This workshop invites participants to examine the ways organizational stress and workplace trauma impact staff well-being and service delivery. Through an experiential, relationship-centered approach, participants will explore strategies to foster resilience, reduce burnout, and create emotionally safe, supportive work environments.

Day One: Participants will focus on understanding the effects of trauma on service providers, including vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout. Using reflection, dialogue, and structured sharing exercises, participants will identify how organizational stressors and systemic practices contribute to staff strain. The day will provide tools and frameworks to support individual and team resilience, build awareness of emotional safety, and strengthen relationally attuned workplace cultures.

Day Two: Building on the foundation of awareness from Day One, participants will explore practical strategies for self-care, stress management, and trauma-informed practices in professional settings. Through interactive exercises and skill-building activities, participants will learn to integrate trauma-informed approaches into daily work, enhance team well-being, and foster organizational practices that support sustainable staff wellness, engagement, and retention.
