Description
"HARVEY"
Harvey is the 1945 Pulitzer Prize-winning play for drama. The play ran from 1944 to 1949 on Broadway. The Story concerns the carefree and kind Elwood P. Dowd who claims to have a friend Harvey, whom Elwood introduces to people as being a 6’ 3 ½” Pooka, resembling a Rabbit. Elwood’s sister Veta, disturbed by Elwood’s behavior, decides to put her brother in a sanitarium. Upon arrival at the sanitarium, Veta confesses to the
young Dr. Sanderson that she has seen Harvey too. Sanderson commits Veta instead of Elwood. When this mistake is realized, the search is on for Elwood and his invisible companion. Elwood comes back to the sanitarium looking for Harvey and has a disarming effect on Dr. Chumley, the director of the sanitarium. Just before Elwood is to receive an injection that would make him “a normal human being”, Veta decides she’d like her brother to remain the kind caring person he’s always been, even if it means living with Harvey.
