We are thrilled to invite you to an exclusive event focused on Women's Health and MCAS.
Dr Fletcher has a profound interest in health and well-being, in particular women's health. Her expertise is derived not only from her GP background spanning 20 years, in both NHS and private practice settings, but also fromthe focused training and study she has undertaken.
Dr Fletcher believes in the transformative impact of a holistic and evidence-based approach, aiming to empower people to thrive and to find joy in every facet of their lives. Find out more here (https://www.life-gp.com/).
This virtual session will cover the unique effects of MCAS for women, including hormonal influences and gender-specific symptoms. Dr Fletcher will also be sharing an overview of the impact of hormonal events such as pregnancy and menopause on MCAS and exploring these as a trigger for the onset of MCAS symptoms. We will touch on the benefits and risks of HRT for women with MCAS, the use of natural remedies and lifestyle adjustments which may support self-management of MCAS.
We will also be joined by Margaret and Denise, members of the Mast Cell Action community, who will be sharing their own stories.
Margaret said:
"Hi - my name’s Margaret. I’m 49 and I’ve had what I now know to be mast cell issues since becoming pregnant with my daughter 23 years ago! I have faced numerous hormonal challenges (menorrhagia chief amongst them) and I’m really sensitive to medication. I’ll be at the women’s health session to see whether any of my experience is helpful in understanding this very challenging condition’…"
Denise said:
"I am 46 years old and I'm from Glasgow. Up until early menopause at 38/39 I was physically healthy and an avid long distance runner who enjoyed travelling. I never made any connection between my symptoms and menopause. I am not symptom free, but things are much more manageable now. I still have to make adjustments in my lifestyle and environment too but having the right HRT combination for me has been a game changer."
There will be an opportunity for a Q&A during the session, but no personal medical advice can be given as Dr Fletcher will not be aware of your medical history. You are free to email any questions prior to the event to events@mastcellaction.org.
We will be running this session virtually through zoom, you are welcome to attend with your microphone and camera off if you feel more comfortable doing so - although you may benefit from being more interactively involved during the session.
Please book your ticket before 1pm on the day of the event otherwise your booking will be invalid.
Please book a place for everyone who will be attending online, even if you'll be attending using the same device. This helps us keep the event running smoothly and safely, and also helps us to decide what kind of events to organise in the future.
We will email out the Zoom link to join the session prior to the session. Please check your junk folder if you can't find the link.
Your support means the world to us! As we strive to keep our virtual sessions accessible to all, your donations enable us to keep the lights on, and the virtual doors wide open for everyone eager to learn, connect, and grow with us. Every contribution, big or small, fuels our mission to deliver quality content and engage with our community in meaningful ways. If you are able to donate, please do give what you can.
Together, let's continue to nurture a space for our community. Your support paves the way for brighter futures for those living with MCAS.
Currently these sessions are only open to those living in the UK. This is because the health system is different in other countries along with access to medications and foods. We hope to be able to host further support groups for non-UK residents in the future. Please get in touch if you would like to support this.
Please contact events@mastcellaction.org with any questions.
Attendance is free but donations are much appreciated and help us to continue to develop services like this. Places are limited so if you wish to attend please register in good time. Please ensure you register for each session that you would like to attend individually. If you change your mind or your plans change then please cancel your place(s) so we can offer someone else the opportunity to attend.
