Your Safe Haven at Home
Mast Cell Action are thrilled to share our new online event with you Your Safe Haven at Home.
Roselle O'Brien will be hosting this event on Wednesday 18th September from 6-7pm.
We all need a safe haven; a space we can retreat to from the pressures and demands of our lives. The need for a safe haven for people with MCAS and mast cell activation related issues and disorders is vital. We will explore the realities of a "safe haven" in the mast cell world, what it means, what it entails, crucial elements---and why it's so essential. Add to the tools in your ever-growing toolbox of health supports with insights and strategies for creating your safe haven
A Message from Roselle:
Mast cell activation related issues and disorders, such as Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), are not mental illnesses. They never have been. MCAS and other mast cell activation issues are real, physiological illnesses. There are mast cells in every organ system of the body including the brain, therefore, the reactions that happen from mast cell activation are systemic and involve the entire body and all its systems and organs. We tend, especially in medicine and medical care, to compartmentalize things. We have specialists for almost every area of our health and medical needs. What happens is that many times while each specialist is focused on their particular specialty area, underlying factors and commonalities get over-looked. Mast cells too many times fall into that category of underlying factors and commonalities that are over-looked. As patients become more educated about their mast cell activation related issues and disorders and what they need—physically, emotionally, cognitively, socially, spiritually—to stay healthy, they often end up in the role teaching their healthcare providers, which can be a little uncomfortable. Don't be swayed. Stay your own best advocate. Keep learning; stay educated.

What you need to know
We will be running these sessions virtually through Zoom, you are welcome to attend with your microphone and camera off if you feel more comfortable doing so. We will email out the Zoom link to join before the session. Please check your spam folder if you can't find this link.
Please book a place for everyone who will be attending online, even if you'll be attending using the same device. This helps us keep the event running smoothly and safely and also helps us to decide what kind of events to organise in the future.
We will be taking a register so if there are a large number of participants, it may take a while – please be patient if you are in the waiting room. We struggle to admit people who do not have their zoom name changed to the name they registered with, so if you are able to change your Zoom name this will speed up the process.
The Zoom Event link will be emailed out an hour before the event starts.
Please contact events@mastcellaction.org with any questions.
Attendance is free, although donations are much appreciated as this helps us to keep the lights on and to keep delivering essential support and services for people living with MCAS. If you are able to do so, there is an option to make a donation, when booking your spot.
Places are limited, so please do let us know if you change your mind or your plans change so we can offer the spot to someone else.
