Mast Cell Action Parent/Carer fortnightly zoom session
Multiple dates and times
Online, Zoom
Description
Join us for our fortnightly virtual community support session, specifically for parents and carers of children with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome or children with suspected MCAS.
We have graded this event as using three spoons of energy.
These sessions will be led by dedicated volunteers Penny and Karen who not only have first-hand experience of living with MCAS, but also with caring for children with MCAS. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to come together, connect with others, and receive support in navigating the challenges associated with MCAS.
Some sessions will be themed, where others will be open chat spaces. Every session will incorporate time to talk and offload anything you may need to talk about. Keep an eye on the event details and our website for more info about session themes.
Our volunteer team will be taking a summer hiatus, we will return to more regular sessions in the autumn.
Upcoming sessions:
Wednesday 28th August 7-8pm, this session is called 'Back to School', we will be sharing discussing and sharing tips for returning to school whilst caring for a child with MCAS or suspected MCAS.
At our MCAS Parent and Carer Virtual Support Sessions, we hope to create a warm and inclusive space where you can share your experiences, exchange information, and talk about the good, the bad and the ugly about life with MCAS. Whether you're exploring managing symptoms, avoiding triggers, or simply looking for emotional support, our supportive community is here for you.
We will also be adopting a 'come as you are' atmosphere for these sessions. Please do not feel compelled to get dressed, put your camera on or stay for the whole session. If you want to join, offload and leave, that it perfectly acceptable. If you can't make the start but would like to join later, that is also fine. If you do not have the energy to get dressed, come in your PJ's!
Come along to connect with other parents and carers who understand the unique challenges of raising children with MCAS or suspected MCAS. Share stories, insights, and advice in a safe and non-judgmental space. This is a space for you to engage in open discussions, ask questions, and learn from the collective wisdom of the group.
Our sessions take place online, ensuring accessibility for everyone in the UK.
Whether you're a seasoned caregiver, newly diagnosed, or suspect your child may have MCAS, our MCAS Parent and Carer Virtual Support Sessions are open to all. Together, we can create a community of support, empowerment, and shared knowledge for everyone who is battling MCAS.
We will share the Zoom link and instructions on how to join by email 1 hour prior to the session. Please check your junk folder if you don't receive this link.
Please note: We will be taking a register so if there are a large number of participants, it may take a while – please be patient if you are in the waiting room. It will make the process of admitting people and taking the register much quicker if you could change your name before joining, to the name you used when booking. You can access a step by step on how to change your name here.
Currently these sessions are only open to those living in the UK. This is because the health system is different in other countries along with access to medications and foods. We hope to be able to host further support groups for non-UK residents in the future. Please get in touch if you would like to support this.
Please contact events@mastcellaction.org with any questions.
Attendance is free, although donations are much appreciated as this helps us to keep the lights on and to keep delivering essential support and services for people living with MCAS. If you are able to do so, there is an option to make a donation, when booking your spot.
Places are limited, so please do let us know if you change your mind or your plans change so we can offer the spot to someone else.
