Introduction to Shibari (beginner and all levels)

Tue 6 Jan 2026 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM Studio Yukari, E1 4BG

Doors open: 6:30PM
Level: All levels, absolute beginners welcome

Join us for an intimate and educational evening exploring the art of Japanese rope bondage.

In this class you will be guided through the origins and evolution of Shibari, from its roots in Japan to its diverse contemporary expressions around the world. You'll discover the different styles of rope and get an insight into Anna’s personal and intuitive approach to the practice.

This session is designed for absolute beginners and no prior experience is needed.

Whether you’re attending solo or with a partner, you’ll have the chance to try out a few simple ties yourself in a safe, supportive space. There will also be time for open Q&A, so feel free to bring your curiosity and any questions you may have.

Please note: If you come alone, we cannot guarantee that you find a partner in the class. However, observing holds as much value as participating in exercises and many exercises can also be adapted to self-tying.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • An overview of Shibari history
  • Introduction to various Shibari styles
  • Anna’s embodied approach to rope as a tool for connection and communication
  • Hands-on practice with basic ties
  • Open discussion and Q&A

Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in.
