Step into the next dimension of your Shibari practice with our Intro to Suspension workshop.
Created for those already comfortable with floor work and partial suspensions, this class offers a grounded and supportive introduction to the world of full suspension. Together, we’ll explore the core principles of safety, risk awareness, and rope handling, while developing a deeper understanding of tension, load, and body positioning. Through a balance of technical instruction and hands-on practice, you’ll build confidence, communication, and trust — both in yourself and with your partner.
As with all of our foundational courses, we move between the technical and the emotional: not only how to suspend, but why. Alongside practical skills, we’ll explore the somatic and emotional experience of suspension, the feelings it can evoke, and the creative possibilities it can open. You’ll learn approaches for lowering into suspension, pulling up into suspension, and working through a variety of body positions including face up, face down, and torsion.
Intro to Suspension is also a prerequisite for many workshops with international presenters, making it an important step for anyone looking to deepen and expand their practice with visiting teachers.
Whether your goal is stronger technique, richer connection, or the confidence to explore suspension safely and creatively, this workshop is designed to give you a solid and inspiring foundation.
