Moving Souls
This is a regular Authentic Movement class—an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and explore your inner landscape through the body.
It invites us to listen deeply, to sensation, to slowness, to what moves beneath conscious intention. Through embodied listening, we encounter elemental forces, buried memory, and the imaginal realm already alive in the tissues of the body.
Authentic Movement is a simple yet profound practice rooted in presence and awareness. With eyes closed or a soft gaze, you follow impulses as they arise, allowing movement to emerge naturally rather than being shaped or performed. It creates space to notice sensations, emotions, images, and memories as they surface—without judgment, without needing to “do it right.”
This practice can support nervous system regulation, invite meditative states, and offer deep personal insight. Often used in therapeutic and creative contexts, it provides a gentle but powerful framework for meeting the body as a vessel of experience—holding memory, emotion, archetype, and imagination. Similar to practices like Butoh, it values slowness, honesty, and vulnerability over aesthetics or form.
The evening will unfold in three parts: beginning with a guided movement warm-up to arrive in the body, followed by an Authentic Movement session with both moving and witnessing, and closing with a quiet ichinawa practice to integrate the experience through simple rope.
You are invited to explore:
- How movement arises when you give space to internal impulses
- The relationship between sensation, emotion, and expression
- The role of stillness, pause, and subtle shifts
- Ways to witness and be witnessed with clarity and care
- Tools for deepening self-awareness through embodied practice
This is not a dance class, nor a performance space—it is a quiet, attentive practice of being with what moves you, and what doesn’t.
Step into the circle, move and be moved.
Bring: Pen and paper for journalling (optional)
