The Nest - with Saara Tsuru (intermediate +)

Sun 18 Oct 2026 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Studio Ma, E1 4BG

Doors open from 10:30am

A long sequence can often be challenging, and the nest is a moment to recharge and gather energy for the rest of the session. The bottom is held by the ropes, with even the head supported. The nest also gives the rigger time to think about the next move. This has become Saara’s trademark: not a very traditional kinbaku shape aesthetically, but a very pleasing moment in the middle of a session.
In this workshop, we will use basic ties, as solid as possible so that the bottoms can lean against the ropes. We will build the suspensions and make the transition to the nest. You are welcome to join this advanced-level workshop if you have experience practicing suspensions and know how to handle uplines safely. You should be able to tie takate kote (in any style) that works well for the bottom. The bottoms should be able to distinguish between restricted circulation and nerve compression. They should enjoy suspensions and the challenging ties, and be able to communicate clearly about their needs.

About the Educator:
Saara Tsuru is a Finnish artist, performer, and kinbaku instructor living in the countryside among forests, family, and animals. Grounded, brave, and vividly intuitive, she carries the presence of a modern-day viking woman. As co-owner of Kakumei Kan in Helsinki, her rope practice unites the raw instinct of nature with the refined precision of traditional kinbaku.
