BAD NEWS
We are very sorry to say that poor Dave Tonge has been struck down by the dreaded flu bug. We are sending warm wishes and healing tonics and directions for him to stay in bed, in Norfolk.

*********NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS********...

The wonderful human being that is Maria Whatton, another Cafe favourite, has stepped into the breach. We are delighted to welcome her back and what a show she has for us.

The Emerald Sky
A Storytelling first with multi award winning Storyteller/Seanchaí Maria Buckley Whatton
Tales of warrior women, wailing banshees (bean sidhes), shapeshifting sea creatures and the strange, dark deeds of “the other crowd”.
Maria Buckley Whatton is an internationally renowned masterful teller connecting her Liverpool upbringing with her Irish heritage and language.
Prepare to be beguiled by extraordinary stories of ancient Ireland. You might even find yourself with a bit of Gaeilge on the tip of your tongue.Live and streaming online

Thankfully 2023 also sees the magnificent and moving duo Cage of Crows back in 'the house'. They'll be bringing their own songs and their own take on other's songs to the Cafe.

We will be live and in the room and also streaming via Zoom. We're loving our international reach and enjoy the 'shout outs' to our global audience. So, if you're willing and able, schmooze on down to the Imperial Rooms in Matlock and join us live. If you're elsewhere in the world or can't join us in person for whatever reason then sit back in your pyjamas, curl up on the settee and click on the link.

We
are delighted to tell you that soup, cakes, teas coffees etc will be available from our kitchen once more. So now you can leave all your snacks at home. You are still most welcome to bring a bottle of something with you. If you're watching online you are responsible for your own New Year resolutions, tax returns and moral compass.

We urge you to book in advance as we cannot guarantee there will be tickets available on the door
. We would also like to encourage our live audience members to perform a lateral flow test before attending.

We at Matlock Storytelling Cafe are embracing our quest; to bring top quality performances to adult audiences.
Grab a ticket, turn off your phone and join us on a journey.
