As the days grow longer and the temperatures begin to rise, we witness the last days of Beira, the goddess of Winter.

Join Ruth Kirkpatrick for the story of Beira and a warm feast of Scottish stories and songs - with no haggis involved!

Ruth is one of Scotland’s leading storytellers, and is internationally recognised as a charismatic live performer, a highly regarded singer and an engaging trainer. Widely viewed as a Tradition Bearer, she has been lucky enough to ‘sit at the knee’ of some of the great storytellers which Scotland has borne- Sheila Stewart, Duncan Williamson, Stanley Robertson and David Campbell. She has a broad repertoire of material from Traditional, Celtic and Traveller sources. Although showing a deep love for the tradition, she does not shy away from making these tales her own.

We will be live and in the room and also streaming via Zoom.  Our fantastic house band Cage of Crows will also be treating us to tunes.We're loving our international reach and enjoy the 'shout outs' to our global audience. So, if you're willing and able, schmooze on down to the Imperial Rooms in Matlock and join us live. We are delighted to tell you that soup, cakes, teas coffees etc will be available from our kitchen. So now you can leave all your snacks at home. You are still most welcome to bring a bottle of something with you. If you're watching online you are responsible for your own plumping of cushions and casual mood lighting
