James Day Leavitt’s 'Skylark' Record Release w/ Aedan MacDougall
Sat Apr 27, 2024 7:30 PM - 9:15 PM
Mayo Street Arts, 04101
Description
James Day Leavitt is releasing his third album, Skylark, at Mayo Street Arts, with an opening set by Aedan MacDougall, from Rascal Van.
Skylark features a dynamic, full-band sound that accentuates James Day Leavitt's introspective lyrics and provides a gorgeous foundation for his idiosyncratic singing and songwriting.
The record was produced, recorded, and mixed locally by Dan Capaldi at Monaco Studios in Falmouth, Maine. Dan also played various instruments on the album including bass and drums. The record also features Tyler Quist on keys, Megan Martelle on violin, and Jay Turnure on electric guitar.
According to James Day Leavitt: “I wanted to build these songs up from their simple acoustic beginnings to make a record that could take you on a revelatory personal journey, a sonic exploration of feeling. Dan Capaldi helped me grow them in the studio by adding elements that expanded my scope of possibilities. In the end, Skylark became more than the sum of its parts. I'm so proud of these new songs and am grateful they were realized within an intensely creative, collaborative environment.”
The Bollard featured the album in their local music section, you can read the review here.
