Hear ye! Hear ye! King Friday, post-monarch, deposed and living in squalor beneath an old vaudeville house requests thy presence to witness the unveiling of new puppet works and puppet works in progress at an impromptu, after-hours, puppet-roadhouse show.

King Friday’s Dungeon Puppet Slam is an opportunity for emerging and experienced puppeteers to share works-in-progress, experimental projects, and other acts that dance outside of the family-friendly mainstream puppet circuit.

Whether this is your first foray into the dungeon or you’re a veteran of depravity, you’ll be tantalized and tickled by spicy skits, and other surprises devised for your viewing pleasure. The dungeon is never the same sprawl twice! The event includes live music by the Ideal Maine Social Aid & Sanctuary Band.

The May 2024 edition of The Dungeon includes the following (and perhaps other) short romps of raunch and rumination:

  • God Is Me Is The Frog In Me. by Caroline, Elliot, & Michela
  • a prayer by Jo Ferry (with an original score by Kafari)
  • Punch & Judy vs Shakespearby Red Oak Puppet Ensemble
  • Junk Food Movies by C.J. Opperthauser & Friends
  • The Fox Physician by Inventing Trees
  • Three special guests of honor from the University of Connecticut's Puppet Arts Program!
