Dancing Through Motherhood with Laura Sánchez - Flamenco Movement Workshop for Mothers and Caregivers

This two-day workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to explore through movement the idea of motherhood and connect within a chorus of mothers/caregivers sparking a sense of support, embrace, and empowerment.

At the end of the second day, the mothers/caregivers who participate in the workshop are welcome to enjoy the second evening’s tablao and will be invited to join Laura and the FLOR artists to share a short piece of choreography created during their workshop.

This residency—the first of two—will allow Laura to begin a creative conversation with our Maine Flamenco community. Next season, we will invite her to return with her auto-bigraphical solo performance “Welcome to Holland” with post-show discussions about accessibility in dance and a workshop on the Expressive Flamenco therapeutic technique Laura developed at Lesley University.

This workshop is open to all mothers and caregivers, including anyone who identifies as a mother or caregiver, those who wish to become a mother, and those who may be facing challenges on their journey to motherhood. We understand "mother" is a complex identity, if you have questions regarding if this workshop can serve you, please feel free to reach out to jodi@mayostreetarts.org

No experience necessary.

Don't miss the performance by Flamenco Tablao featuring Laura Sánchez, Behzad Habibzai, Carlton Ashton and Lindsey Bourassa on Saturday, April 12 at 7:00 PM and Sunday April 13 at 2:00 PM!

This workshop is co-presented in collaboration with FLOR (Flamenco & Its Origins).
