Friday, October 17 at 6:00 PM (doors 5:30 PM) and Saturday, October 18 at 12:00 PM (doors 11:30 AM), 60 minute performance with no intermission

Tickets are available to Adults for $15 in advance, $18 at the door, and $25 for preferred seating (pay-what-you-can available)

Tickets are available to Kids 13 and Under for $10 in advance, $13 at the door, and $20 for preferred seating  (pay-what-you-can available)

Proceeds from all tickets sales for Friday's performance will be donated to support Mayo Street Arts!

Welcome to the TEST KITCHEN, where nothing is quite finished and everything is fabulously fun.
Join Shultzie Fay and Arthur Yorinks for a live family radio hour full of fractured fairytales, fan favorite books, peculiar poems, silly songs, and wild voices—all performed in front of a curious and courageous audience (that’s you!).
They’re testing new material for a future radio theater show, and need your laughs, gasps, and sound effects to bring it to life. This is a one-of-a-kind hour of joyful experimentation, unexpected surprises, and just the right amount of prancing.
Perfect for humans of all ages. Come have a chuckle and check out one of Portland’s most magical spaces: Mayo Street Arts.

Artist Bios:

Shultzie Fay (co-creator, producer, cast) is a children’s media producer, voice actor, art teacher, entrepreneur, and the former Marketing & Communications Director for the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine and United Way of Southern Maine.

Arthur Yorinks (co-creator, director, writer, score) is a celebrated children’s book author, playwright, director, and a seasoned force in the world of radio storytelling. He is the co-creator of Night Kitchen Radio Theater, a star-studded public radio series, and has written for opera, ballet, Off-Broadway, Reading Rainbow, and NPR.

Michela Micalizio (puppet maker, puppeteer, cast) is based in South Portland. She has made puppets for several shows at the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine, and has appeared multiple times in King Friday's events at Mayo Street.

Russell Kaback (score, cast) is a writer, singer, guitarist, performer, and educator. He was born in St. Louis, raised in Montreal, and currently lives in Maine. He also wrote and performs a one-person musical about the life and survival of his grandfather during the Holocaust called 25044. See his work and learn more at russellkaback.com.

Carole Zimmer (cast) is the host of the award-winning podcast “Now What?” which features interviews with Gloria Steinem, Joe Biden, Jane Fonda,and other extraordinary people. In her broadcasting career she has been a reporter for National Public Radio, the NBC Radio Network and Bloomberg News. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, New York Magazine and other publications. She’s also the author of The Natural Cook’s First Book and The Crickets are Having a Picnic.

Keyla Alston-Griffin (cast) is a performer in the southern Maine region, has an MSW, and is the founder of a web3 tech start-up.

Sloan Willows (cast) is a young performer in the southern Maine region and student at South Portland Middle School.

Alice Cummings (cast) is a young performer in the southern Maine region and student at Cape Elizabeth Middle School. 

Sam Richard(cast) is a young performer in the southern Maine region and student at Lincoln Middle School.

EVENT PARKING

Free on-street parking is available in Mayo Street Arts’ neighborhood.

There is one paid parking lot conveniently located a six-minute walk from the venue: Top of the Old Port Parking (119 Pearl St, Portland ME 04101)

Mayo Street Arts is accessible by Greater Portland Metro bus routes with nearby transfer points 7, 9A & 9B. Click here to learn more.

ACCESSIBILITY

All performances and most other events held at Mayo Street Arts are wheelchair accessible. There are two accessible spots directly in front of our building, however there is not yet a curb cut out at that location.

SEATING POLICY

We will save your reserved seat until showtime, at which point any unclaimed seats may be offered to other people. Please call our box office at 207-879-4629 if you are running late.

CANCELATION POLICY

MSA has a no refund policy for all reservations. In the event that MSA is forced to cancel an event due to weather, illness, etc., refunds will be offered via the Ticket Tailor platform.
