Get ready for a night like no other at MSA as local rap stars light up our stage!
New Starz on Mayo Street is a Maine rapper showcase featuring local artists Shine, KSL, and AB The King—who are killing the local rap scene. More surprise stars will also perform, but you have to be at the show to find out who they are! Special guest Neeko Brown will emcee. Expect great vibes, dope music, and a whole lot of melodic flows.
ARTIST BIOS
Shine
Somali-American poet and rapper, SHINE—also known as Munye Mohamed—arrived stateside at age five and grew up right here in Portland, Maine. His musical art began with poetry, he started performing spoken word at open mics at Mayo Street Arts, Dobra Tea, and other local venues. In 2011, he was a regional finalist of Maine’s Poetry Out Loud Competition. Shine released his debut album, Aspirations 2, in October 2021. The title track, "Aspirations," was an overnight success and has more than 1.6 million views on Youtube. Shine has been featured in the Bangor Daily News, Portland Press Herald, Q97.9, Downeast Magazine, and News Center Maine’s 207. In Shine’s own words “my words are what bring people together. I’m a people’s person. I’m for the community.” Shine is currently working on his next album, Aspirations 3, due to be released in April.
KSL
KSL was raised in North Philly and moved to Maine in 2014. His raw sound mixed with today’s trap and R&B vibes is bringing back culture. Filled with melodic flows and great vocal projection, KSL has five studio albums out now on all major platforms.
AB The King
AB THE KING is a rising artist based out of Portland, ME. He uses his platform to produce many different kinds of unique sounds and styles of music that can draw the attention of any kind of listener while keeping all intrigued and hungry for more! AB The King also has a long list of visuals on YouTube including his newest “Very known” that bring a new life and feel to his songs.

Tickets are available for $15 in advance, $18 at the door. General admission is standing with limited seating available.

COVID-19 POLICY
All patrons and staff attending events will need to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (or negative test from within 48 hours) along with a matching photo ID. Children under 12 are exempt.
Audience members, staff, and volunteers will be asked to mask while not actively eating, or drinking.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Mayo Street Arts has a no refund policy for all reservations. In the event that MSA is forced to cancel an event due to weather, illness, etc., refunds will be offered via the Ticket Tailor platform.
