Flamenco Guitar Workshop

This workshop is designed for guitarists that have little or no knowledge about flamenco but do have a basic level of playing guitar (chords, strumming, basic music theory). Students should bring their own guitar (nylon-stringed, classical, or flamenco).

In our time together, we will examine the particular ways that flamenco works rhythmically and harmonically, especially within the context of the guitar. We will learn rhythmic patterns of different flamenco palos (styles), how to play palmas (handclaps), and translate these ideas to the guitar.

ARTIST BIO

Cristian Puig was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Son of Gloria Monreal, Flamenco singer and Pablo Puig, Flamenco guitarist. When he was 19 years old, Cristian began his studies in classical guitar at the conservatory of Manuel de Falla as well as flamenco guitar with his father. Soon he took classes in flamenco guitar with Quique de Cordoba and furthered his studies in jazz, bosa nova, and contemporary music with various teachers. He has been self-taught ever since, using his musical influences and inspirations as his guide.

COVID-19 POLICY

All patrons and staff attending events will need to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (or negative test from within 48 hours) along with a matching photo ID. Children under 12 are exempt.

Audience members, staff, and volunteers will be asked to mask while not actively eating, or drinking.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Mayo Street Arts has a no refund policy for all reservations. In the event that MSA is forced to cancel an event due to weather, illness, etc., refunds will be offered via the Ticket Tailor platform.
