Puppeteers' Happy Hour: Breath, Focus, Movement
Sun Jan 8, 2023 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Mayo Street Arts, 04101
Description
Join us for Puppeteers' Happy Hour! This recurring informal gathering is for puppet artists and enthusiasts to share their work and ideas, catch up on the latest puppet dirt, and hang out.
For this very special happy hour, puppeteer extraordinaire Ian Bannon will lead a workshop on Breath, Focus, and Movement.
Practice the core principles of working as a team to animate Japanese-style bunraku or "tabletop" puppet through direct manipulation. After a brief introductory lesson, we'll work in groups of 2-3 to create short, non-verbal performances. We'll share performances with each other and refine them through peer critique. This is recommended for all ability levels; participants must be 8+ years old.
Puppeteers and puppet fans of all flavors are encouraged to attend. If you've been puppet-curious, this is a wonderful chance to dip your toe into the wacky world of puppetry!
The event is open to the public and free to attend. Libations will be available for purchase.
