Big Lux: Hip Hop Violinist
Sat Apr 8, 2023 7:30 PM - 8:45 PM
Mayo Street Arts, 04101
Description
Big Lux is a hip-hop artist, violinist, lyricist, composer, educator, and civil rights activist. His unique sound is a blend of the styles and cultures he’s absorbed throughout his life, including classical training in the Suzuki method, improvisational jazz, street music in South Korea, hi-tempo Latin influences from Miami, and his experience as a civil rights activist.
With recent appearances on The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Special Report with Areva Martin, The Boston Globe, and other major media, Big Lux is making his music and voice heard across the country.
This performance is part of a collaboration between Mayo Street Arts and the East End Community School. This MSA-EECS Partnership is a portion of a year-round approach toward engagement with our neighbors in East Bayside. A committee of elementary students and faculty helps to select artists and tailor workshops to support the classroom curriculum.
Saturday, April 8, 7:30 PM (Doors 7:00 PM), 60-minutes with intermission
Tickets are available for $15 in advance, $18 at the door, and $22 for preferred seating (sliding scale available).

ARTIST BIO
Big Lux is a larger-than-life musician changing the way people see the Violin, and the world. His music reflects a life spread across five continents and multiple war zones, with original compositions taking audiences from Baghdad to Seoul to his hometown of Westerly, RI. Classically trained as a child, he blends Hip Hop, Blue Grass, Jazz, and personal life stories to create an experience for his audience instead of a show.
As much as he loves performing, Big Lux is also passionate about advocating for human rights. Having immersed himself in South American, Asian, and Middle Eastern cultures, his love for people is rivaled only by his desire for us to do better. Both his music and his speaking events are socially conscious, personal, and authentic, with an eye always toward a better tomorrow.
