In this workshop musician, Big Lux guides the class through a pop songwriting session, with a focus on the lyrics and melody.
Writing songs can feel big and complicated, but Lux will demonstrate his songwriting process by working with attendees to write a whole new song during the workshop! By the end, attendees will understand the power of using one big emotion as a starting point to build up the stories they want to tell. Lux will perform his song "Tonic" and use it as an example of this approach to writing.
No previous songwriting or music instruction is required. Instruments are not required - only something to write your lyrics on!
Free to the public; donations encouraged!
Be sure to get tickets for his evening concert: Big Lux | Hip Hop Violinist at 7:30 PM on Saturday, April 8.
Funded in part by the New England States Touring program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the six New England state arts agencies.

ARTIST BIO
Big Lux is a larger-than-life musician changing the way people see the Violin, and the world. His music reflects a life spread across five continents and multiple war zones, with original compositions taking audiences from Baghdad to Seoul to his hometown of Westerly, RI. Classically trained as a child, he blends Hip Hop, Blue Grass, Jazz, and personal life stories to create an experience for his audience instead of a show.
As much as he loves performing, Big Lux is also passionate about advocating for human rights. Having immersed himself in South American, Asian, and Middle Eastern cultures, his love for people is rivaled only by his desire for us to do better. Both his music and his speaking events are socially conscious, personal, and authentic, with an eye always toward a better tomorrow.
