13 Scotland Road is a rare and dynamic blues and acoustic roots band.
The New Jersey group now living in Portland, combines one of the most unique slide guitar players that you’ll ever hear in Bill Binford, with the soulful blues singing voice and harmonica playing of Aaron Seglin. The band's sound is rounded off by stellar and melodic rock guitarist Benny Andreasen.
13 Scotland Road is celebrating their first single release and music video, Been Down that Road. The single was mixed in Muscle Shoals, Alabama by Fame studio engineer John Gifford and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer and Portland resident, Bob Ludwig. They’ll also be performing songs from their debut EP, featuring songs like The Weather, Smokestack Lighting, Boom, and Sometimes.
The night will feature the first public airing of the Music Video, Been Down that Road, a celebrity emcee, and a Q&A with the band after the concert.

ABOUT THE BAND
Binford first met Seglin many years ago noticing him walking in the middle of a busy New Jersey intersection. Seglin, blind from birth, had no fear of the busy Jersey avenues, yet Binford sensed danger from the speeding aggressive drivers and guided him to a nearby sidewalk. Seglin smiled at Bill with his patented big grin. Bill nodded to himself and went about his business. At a busy jam session a few hours later, and totally by chance, Bill started playing a vintage guitar. All of a sudden, someone started playing the harmonica. It was Aaron, and the two felt an instant musical connection. They formed a band and named it after the rented flat where Aaron was living ….. 13 Scotland Road.
Steeped in authentic blues, Bill Binford grew up attending Juke Joints south of the Mason-Dixon Line in Virginia. On an old record player, he listened to artists such as Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, and John Lee Hooker. Bill's Aunt Alma rented out rooms in her big-old Victorian House. One day, Bill heard this magical sound drifting up from his Aunt's basement. It was one of the boarders, Mr. Pitts, who kindly showed the nine-year-old music fan his guitar and a few chords. Shortly after, Bill got his first guitar, not much more than a box with strings, Bill remembers, and the rest is history.
Aaron Seglin grew up in Jersey where he sang nonstop from his earliest memory. He use to belt out duets with his brother on Jersey street corners. "People used to gather when we’d start singing," he recalls. Seglin listened to everything he could get his ears on. Aaron loved music from world music, to songs and albums performed by Emmylou Harris to Paul Simon. He recalls first picking up a guitar after noticing the attention that girls gave guys who played guitar at high school parties. He also knew that being blind, he couldn’t easily negotiate walking from room to room at crowded parties to meet people. "I couldn’t compete with football players,” said Seglin “but I could play guitar and knew that it felt good. People liked it. I liked it." His first guitar was a Hondo his parents gave to him on his seventeenth birthday. “It changed my life”, said Seglin.
Ben Andreasen, the lead guitarist, met Bill at an open mic in Portland, Maine. When Bill first saw Ben play, he noticed Ben had a passion for the guitar. They started playing together. Ben was willing to learn and expand his knowledge. He took what he learned and ran with it.
