Description
This event will provide a high-level overview of the work being done centrally to support accessibility in teaching and learning by enhancing instructional supports and the student experience. Students, staff and instructors attending this event will engage in critical conversations to support accessibility in our teaching and learning spaces.
We hope that participants will leave this event with:
- a clear understanding of what central units are doing to support students, staff and instructors to facilitate academic accessibility;
- a better understanding of their role in fostering accessibility in teaching and learning spaces; and
- deeper insights into university processes and systems that impact accessibility in teaching and learning.
Some examples of the conversations participants can expect to have with colleagues and subject-matter experts include:
- understanding how the accommodations process works and the duty to accommodate
- how to address common accommodations in various disciplines
- mapping the instructor journeys as they work to foster accessible learning experiences
- what resources for accessible design and course materials are available to make course planning easier
