Santa's Grotto at Meadow Grange 2026

A very special visitor will be returning to Meadow Grange this Christmas! 🎅✨

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and what better way to get into the Christmas spirit than with a magical visit to see Santa Claus himself!

Your festive journey begins with a walk through our enchanted walkway, where you can make a wish at our wishing tree and let your wishes fly high. Keep your eyes peeled for elves along the way, add your name to our Naughty or Nice lists, and discover our secret elf tunnels before making your way to Santa’s magical grotto.

Once inside, every child will have the chance to spend time with Santa himself. Santa will give each child their very own special token, which they can take to our Elf Toy Shop and exchange for a toy of their choice. 🎁

There will be plenty of magical photo opportunities along the way, so make sure your camera is ready to capture those special Christmas memories! 📸

Our Grotto is all about bringing a little extra festive magic and Christmas cheer to young and old, while raising lots of money for some wonderful local causes in conjunction with the Whitstable Lions. ❤️

🎟️ Important Booking Information

Every person entering the Grotto will need a ticket. Each child who has a ticket including a gift will receive a special token from Santa, which they can then hand to one of our elves in the Toy Shop to choose and redeem their very own toy.

Please be aware that the Grotto is outside, so please dress appropriately for the weather.

Before booking, please make sure you read all of the booking information and FAQs carefully.

Booking Information and FAQ 

Bookings

❆ You must book a ticket for every child who wants to visit the Grotto, including babies under 1. There are a maximum of 4 children and 6 adults allowed per 10 minute slot. If you find you cannot book your required number of children and adults on your chosen slot, you will need to make a separate booking and add them to the closest available slot. Please note, it is possible that another family will be booked in at the same time as you, but you will see Santa separately - this is just to manage the queue.

❆ All bookings are non-transferable and non-refundable.

❆ Children must be supervised throughout the Grotto experience. Our staff are there to check you in and provide a warm welcome to the Grotto only. 

❆ Tickets cannot be swapped once booked.

Refunds

❆ If we find it necessary to close the Grotto for any reason, we will offer you a full refund or the option to book into an alternative session (subject to availability).

❆ If you are late for your allocated time or cannot make your session for any reason, unfortunately we cannot offer a refund.

❆ Unfortunately, we cannot change session times and cannot provide refunds for sessions missed.

Gifts

❆ Meadow Grange will provide a range of gifts suitable from birth to 12 years old. Children will be able to pick their own gift in the Elf Toyshop. The Grotto gift is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged (for cash or otherwise).

CCTV

Please note: We operate CCTV in the Grotto area for the safety of all our staff and customers.

Do new born babies count as an attendee?

If you are booking with babies under 1 year, they only need to be included in your total booking number/group size if you want them to receive a present.

Will my visit to the Grotto be private?

When visiting Father Christmas there will only be one family in with him at one time.

Are dogs allowed in the Grotto?

Dogs are not allowed in the Grotto. 

Can I just turn up and buy a ticket?

No, tickets must be purchased in advance online.

Is there car parking at the Grotto?

We have a large customer car park, but we will be very busy at this time of year, so advise that you arrive at the garden centre at least 15 mins before your session then make your way to the grotto entrance 5 mins before your session.

Where is the entrance?

The Grotto entrance is located outside the main shop in the plant area. Signage will be in place to guide you.

Is there somewhere I can leave my bags?

There are no lockers at the Grotto therefore we suggest you only bring items with you that you are happy to carry. There is space outside the Grotto to leave prams and buggies as unfortunately we cannot allow them inside the Grotto. Meadow Grange accepts no responsibility for personal belongings.

How long are the sessions?

The Grotto experience is usually 10 - 15 minutes long. This includes the walkthrough with photo opportunities and activities for the children to complete before seeing Santa. Please arrive at the garden centre at least 15 mins before your session then make your way to the grotto entrance 5 mins before your session, especially during busy periods when the traffic and car park can be extremely busy. The time you book may not be the exact time you will see Santa, it is just to manage the queue. 

What gifts are provided?

Santa will give each child a token to exchange in the Elf Toyshop. There they can choose an unwrapped present from the elf. The Grotto gift chosen is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged (for cash or otherwise). 

Are SEN (Special Educational Needs) sessions available?

We will do our best to accommodate your SEN child or young adult -  please email ali@meadowgrangenursery.co.uk with any special requirements - for example if your child or young adult would like to go straight into see Santa rather than walk all the way through the Grotto, this is not a problem but let us know in advance so we can make a note on your booking to facilitate this as smoothly as possible.

Tickets

If we find it necessary to close the Grotto for any reason, we will offer you a full refund or the option to book in to an alternative session (subject to availability).

If you are late for your allocated time or cannot make your session, unfortunately we cannot offer a refund.

Please ensure that you are confident in being able to fulfil your booking before completing the purchase of your tickets.

Tickets cannot be swapped or names changed once booked.

Is the Grotto wheelchair friendly?

Yes, the Grotto is wheelchair friendly, but be aware that the Grotto is outside and the pathways can be bumpy/uneven.
