Glassmeyer, Eisenstadt, Moran - Los Torneros (Lucumí & Improvisation)

The masterful New York percussionist and ceremonial batalero, Harris Eisenstadt, and the versatile guitar improviser, Sean Moran, are coming to Nashville for a special performance of their trio with Matt Glassmeyer. Their unique interpretation of Afro-Cuban Lucumí devotional songs is meditative, spacious, raw.

Harris Eisenstadt, won DownBeat’s 2024 International Critics Poll for Rising Star Percussion. A longtime explorer of African and Diaspora music traditions, Eisenstadt has made extended research trips to Gambia, Senegal, Cuba, Brazil, Mexico City, and Miami. He frequently performs Afro Cuban Lucumi ceremonial drumming in and around New York City. 

Sean Moran has been hailed as “A forward thinking guitarist” by the NY Times. Along with being praised by the NYT for his contribution to the album Ye Olde by Jacob Garchik (featuring Brandon Seabrook, Mary Halvorson, and Jonathan Goldberger), Sean has also performed with Briggan Krauss, Hank Roberts, Teo Macero, George Schuller, Hadestown, and the exceptional prog-metal band, Bassoon. His own records include Sun Tiger and Small Elephant Band.

Matt Glassmeyer performs regularly in Nashville, New York City, and Los Angeles on assorted instruments. He continues to explore approaches to both free and structured improvisation.
