Class Description

This class is a continuation of our Hanafi Fiqh series where we cover the Fiqh of Worship, which entails how we purify ourselves, how we pray, offer Zakah, perform Umrah and Hajj, fast, and more. The students will cover these topics by studying from a classic Hanafi primer, Nur ul Idah, that has wide acclaim across the Muslim world for its high academic value in guiding the students through the Fiqh of Worship/Ibadat.

This semester, we will cover the Fiqh of Fasting and just in time for preparation before the holy month of Ramadan.

Weekly topics:

  • Week 1: General Overview of Fasting, The Types of Fasts, The Fasts For Which An Intention Is To Be Made The Night Before and Fasts For Which The Intention May Be Made in The Morning
  • Week 2: What Invalidates the Fast, Requires an Expiation, and a Make-up Fast, What Invalidates the Fast, but Does Not Require an Expiation
  • Week 3: Makruh and Mustahabb Acts During the Fast, Miscellaneous Fast Rulings
  • Week 4: Zakah, Those Who Qualify for Zakah, Sadaqat ul Fitr (Eid Charity)
