RAISING MONEY FOR...
Further to the 2023 Car Rally funding Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) equipment for the Speech and Language Therapy Department at Basingstoke, we are now looking to fund a further £26,700 for a second FEES, to aid the Stroke Department at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester.
The Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) is a mobile and non-invasive bedside camera-based evaluation of swallowing, aimed at enhancing dysphagia management for stroke patients. With approximately 50% of stroke survivors experiencing swallowing difficulties, timely and accurate assessment is crucial to prevent further complications. FEES minimises the time spent on nil-by-mouth or artificial feeding, reduces aspiration risks, length of hospital stays and eliminates the need for radiology intervention.
ENTRY DETAILS
Crews must raise a minimum of £350 per car for the Hampshire Medical Fund, payable immediately to confirm entry. The entry fee includes all costs for driver and navigator: tea/coffee on arrival, a delicious two course lunch and tea/drinks with sandwiches and treats to finish.
- It is strongly advised to have a navigator alongside you whilst driving at the rally
- We regret no children or dogs will be able to attend the event
For any further information concerning the rally, please contact Toby Ward: tobyward@newbury.net or 07785 998459.
The HAMPSHIRE MEDICAL FUND was founded by the late Earl of Carnarvon in 1981; it now supplies Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover hospitals with cutting edge medical equipment. As the burden of funding requirements on the NHS increases, so does the need for support from the Hampshire Medical Fund to ensure that Hampshire hospitals are able to provide the best possible care for patients, and that our NHS Trust is at the forefront of clinical excellence.
