Tree Marking with the Strike Team!
Tree Marking with the Strike Team!
Join us for a tree-marking day in the woods. Meet the Strike Team at the Hemlock Conservation office, and we will provide transportation to the site.
Tree marking involves several tasks, including measuring the tree's diameter at breast height (DBH), marking the trees with flagging tape to identify the treatment method, tagging the trees to indicate which trees will be treated in the 2024 season and cataloguing each tree into an application data base.
Volunteers without prior Hemlock Hero training are welcome to participate in tree marking days and will receive on-site guidance and training. While everyone is welcome to participate, it's important to note that this kind of work can be physically demanding. Prospective volunteers must be well-prepared and capable of navigating challenging terrain in a fast-paced environment.
Please bring everything you need for a full day in the field, including water, lunch/snacks, and appropriate clothing/footwear. If there is still abundant snow, it is recommended to bring snowshoes.
Location TBD!
