What are coaching skills and why do they matter in my practice?
Coaching skills can transform our clinical interactions, enabling us to more effectively partner with our patients, identify and manage expectations, reduce our own sense of pressure and enable our patients to participate in their treatment with greater engagement and motivation.
Trailblazers and trusted leaders in clinician support, coaching and mentoring, Joanne Elphinston and Jo Turner have united to cut through the noise around coaching and have distilled it into a streamlined approach to help you to master the core coaching essentials for effective clinical practice.
Created specifically to translate coaching concepts into clinical practice, you will learn skills and a practical framework that can be applied directly in busy clinical settings through a simplified, jargon-free curriculum.
Joanne Elphinston and Jo Turner are known for their long term commitments to clinician wellbeing, and by combining collectively 60 years of clinical experience alongside their knowledge and background in coaching, they are looking forward to opening this new door for you to improve your own satisfaction, ease and personal fulfilment in practice through Coaching Unpeeled.
What are people saying about Coaching Unpeeled?
Here's what our June 2025 cohort said about Coaching Unpeeled:
“What a privilege to have double the expertise (Jo squared)! Everything I have taken in over the past few days aligns with my values and it’s who I want to be. If you're a practitioner, who is supporting and guiding patients or clients to tackle the root cause of their issues, the skills and techniques learned in coaching unpeeled will supercharge your expertise. Like anything worth learning, they'll take some practice to master, but your patient will walk away satisfied that they've been heard, you understand And that whatever approach is decided upon, it will be done collaboratively.” (Rosie, Exercise Physiologist, Australia)
“This is a fantastic course brilliantly run by Joanne and Jo. They created a very relaxed environment. It was very beneficial in my opinion to be given advice by people who don’t just talk the talk but very much walk the walk. I believe that through this course my clinical experience is going to be a much more enjoyable one and for this I am truly grateful.” (Luke, Osteopath, UK)
“It was clear you had both drilled down into the course content and really extracted the key ingredients for clinicians. You both made something that isn’t easy, look easy and presented the coaching approach in a well structured, calm and clear way. A very well crafted and facilitated course.” (Emma, Physiotherapist, UK)
“I find it so helpful that the two of you provide latest evidence for us. It helps with my confidence but also provides a path to explore in my self study. The format works well, and it was so amazing to have such a geographically diverse group, all openly sharing their experiences and vulnerabilities. It has built on existing knowledge and practice but importantly given a framework, process and confidence for my practice." (Kathryn, Physiotherapist, UK)
"This course recognises the power and beauty of coaching. I already have a coaching [background] but working out how to apply and blend those skills has been tough... I would be met with “So what’s coaching?”; “ What does that have to do with physio”? This course is the ‘why and how’. My spring is back in my step and my gut feeling of why this stuff works reassured. Thank you both and please keep doing what you are doing.” (Glenda, Physiotherapist, UK
