Micro Memoirs and Stories

Does the idea of writing a book-length memoir or story intimidate you? Ease gently into writing by learning more about micro memoirs and short reads! Learn to create your own small freestanding literary piece that tells a complete story (with a beginning, middle, and end), but focuses on capturing a brief moment (or feeling) in time. Write more than one, and start your own book series!
Micro memoirs and short reads are a (fairly) new literary category on Amazon similar to the old "Readers Digest" from back in the day. A short read is any literary piece (in e-book format) that can be read in 15, 30, 45, or 90 minutes in one sitting. Usually short reads are compiled as episodes (or "books") in a series, the same way that sitcoms or TV dramas release their overall story arc as individual episodes. Readers buy each episode (or book), or they can purchase the entire series as a whole.
Well-known creators, such as Mindy Kaling, Kevin Hart, and David Sedaris have had success writing Short Reads. And you can, too!
In this class you will learn:
* What is a micro publishing (or a short read)?
* Where are the publishing opportunities for your micro memoir and short reads?
* Who are demographics and what are sales data for micro memoirs and short reads?
* How you structure a story for micro publishing?
Join Stacy Dymalski to get started on your own micro memoir or episodic short read series! Held on Zoom, a meeting ID and password for this class will be emailed to registered students prior to the class start date.
