The Mental Wealth Book Club - Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before, Dr Julie Smith

Sat 10 Oct 2026 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM BST Online, Zoom

Welcome friends to the third quarterly Mental Wealth Book Club!

I am loving these meet-ups! I think they’re fast becoming my favourite events to host and I would be honoured if you could join me for this next session.

Yet again, this will be a relaxed and reflective online session where we explore key ideas from a book that has personally helped me in the past. This session also falls on World Mental Health Day, which feels like a beautiful time to come together and reflect on a book that explores so many important parts of our mental wellbeing:

Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before? by Dr Julie Smith.

This is not a formal book review or academic discussion. You do not need to have finished the book, or even read every chapter, to take part. The main focus is to explore the key themes as a community, consider what they might mean for you, and reflect on how you might apply them within your own life.

What to Expect

Together we will explore ideas around emotional wellbeing, self-doubt, motivation, resilience, difficult feelings, stress, and the practical tools that can help us better understand ourselves.

Dr Julie Smith’s book is accessible, thoughtful and full of useful reminders, making it a lovely choice for reflective discussion rather than a chapter-by-chapter review.

The session will include:

• A warm welcome and guided structure throughout
• Space to pause, journal, and reflect privately
• Guided discussion in a small group setting to share your thoughts, ideas and perspectives
• Practical takeaways to apply in your own life
• A simple closing reflection to help you consider what you may wish to take away from the session

Previous Mental Wealth Book Club sessions have been described as organised, thoughtful and welcoming. People have particularly enjoyed the chance to think and write before speaking.

Please know that you never have to speak if you don’t want to. Some people enjoy simply listening, reflecting, and taking part in the journalling exercises.

This session will be live via Zoom and will not be recorded, helping to create an open and comfortable space for those attending. Slides and key prompts will be provided afterwards on Patreon and by email to those who purchase a ticket from Ticket Tailor.

Whether you are joining to simply listen and absorb, or would like to share your thoughts, you are very welcome.

Further Information

The Mental Wealth Book Club is hosted by Jules Hobbs, a mindset coach and podcast host of Mental Wealth with Jules Hobbs.

Each quarter we explore one carefully chosen book to support your personal growth and help keep you growing, flowing, and glowing towards your goals and dreams.

These sessions provide the chance to slow down, reflect, discuss and, most importantly, apply what you’ve learned from each book in a practical way within your own life.

Due to the nature of these sessions, they’re only suitable for adults to attend.

A Live, Unrecorded Experience

In the past, many of these events have been recorded because I’m primarily the presenter and can save questions and discussions until the end. During book club, however, beautiful discussions often emerge throughout the session and I want to honour this by creating a safe space where people can speak openly without worrying about who may watch a recording later.

For that reason, our book club sessions are live and unrecorded, with slides and key prompts provided afterwards.
