Tis Tales Presents: World's Weirdest Folktales

Sat 14 Mar 2026 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Ventnor Library, PO38 1LZ

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the weirdest of them all?

Once upon a time there were three storytellers who never stopped squabbling. All three of them loved weird folktales, but they couldn’t agree which one had the weirdest, whackiest folktales in the world. They bragged and boasted, they beefed and brawled, they blew their own trumpets and tooted their horns…

Until finally they decided to settle things once and for all. They decided to have a Weird Tales contest.

So come and join us for a battle of the bizarre, a folktale fracas, a funny-peculiar feud – a contest to see which storyteller really has the world’s weirdest folktale. Hear the stories, weigh up the evidence, and vote to choose the tale you think is weirdest. It may not quite be a battle to the death, but you’ll certainly see some folklore feathers fly.

Stories told by Sue Bailey, Merl Fluin and Holly Medland
