Saving The Earth With A Teaspoon: A Conversation With Wildlife Filmmaker Stephen Mills (1971)

Tue 3 Feb 2026 5:30 PM Merton College, Oxford, OX1 4JD

What’s it like sharing a Jeep with a wild tiger? Or hanging from a helicopter over Everest, camera in hand?

Join us for a special evening in College with acclaimed wildlife filmmaker Stephen Mills (1971) as we celebrate the publication of his latest book and autobiography, Natural Causes: The wild life of a wildlife filmmaker. From being struck by lightning to stalked by a lioness, Stephen will situate his astonishing adventures as a naturalist within their wider context: the ever-pressing plight of our planet, and the small steps one might take towards saving it.

Drinks will be served from 5.30pm in the Mure Room, with the talk commencing at 6pm. You are most welcome to bring a guest.

There is limited parking at the College Sports Ground (Manor Road, about a 15-minute walk from Merton), reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Please email development@merton.ox.ac.uk if you would like to reserve a space.

Please note that there is unfortunately no step-free access to the Mure Room.

We kindly request that you make your booking by Friday 16 January
