Louis Harel

Senior Associate, pims.ai | malik

  • How an "Operations Room" turns strategic benchmarking from a one-off engagement into a continuously-recalibrated capability for decision and control — combining a business's live operational data with six decades of empirical evidence in the PIMS® database.
  • What it takes to operationalise such an environment in practice — integrating the PIMS models, connecting it to the management-cybernetics tradition (Stafford Beer's VSM, the St Gallen lineage behind Malik Management®), and moving organisations from discrete planning cycles toward adaptive strategy.

Louis Harel is a Senior Associate at pims.ai | malik, working in the firm's Predictive Analytics practice. His work centres on delivering evidence-based recommendations spanning its three product lines:

  • - PIMS® Strategic Benchmarking: Objective assessment of a business’ operational and strategic position,
  • - PIMS® Customer Value Analysis: Evidence-based optimisation of customer-centric decisions,
  • - Operational Excellence: Industry standard benchmarking to maximise productivity for the global lubricants and greases industry.

Alongside these, Louis has focused on operationalising an environment for decision and control that lets businesses move from periodic strategic benchmarking exercises to a continuously-recalibrated decision-support capability. The concept pairs a client's operational data organised across the Central Performance Controls with the empirical insight of the PIMS® database to support adaptive, evidence-based strategy. Based out of the London office, Louis holds an MSc in Management from the London School of Economics.

pims.ai | malik is a boutique consultancy based in London and St Gallen supporting top management in navigating complexity and delivering long-term profitability. The firm is built on two pillars: Predictive Analytics and Organisational Transformation. The latter is delivered through the Malik Management® suite, rooted in the St Gallen tradition of management cybernetics. The former builds and expands on PIMS® (Profit Impact of Market Strategy), an empirical research programme begun at General Electric in the 1960s to determine what makes a business unit more successful than others. Over six decades, PIMS® has evolved into a proprietary database of 12,000+ businesses capturing 500+ variables describing a firm’s strategic position and performance. pims.ai | malik’s central conviction: evidence-based management beats wishful thinking.
