The Improv Lab - Unscripted
A Monthly Improv Series for a Quicker, Sharper, More Flexible Mind. No Experience Necessary.
The Improv Lab - Unscripted is MF Improv's ongoing monthly series: a new topic every month, always disguised as a really fun game night. The games change, the mental muscle they train doesn't.
September: Total Recall — Recall & Working Memory
- September 7: Grandma's Trunk — the classic cumulative memory chain ("I packed a hat... a hat and a harmonica...") plus name-and-detail recall built right into the warm-up
- September 14: Party Quirks — hold onto an assigned character quirk across a whole scene while the group tries to guess it
- September 21: Callback Games — nothing said in the room is ever really gone; the best laugh of the night lands on something said an hour earlier
- September 28: Total Recall Showcase — every game from the month, together, in one session
October: Whodunit — Pattern Recognition & Deduction
- October 5: Mystery Box — a yes-or-no deduction game where the room has to find the hidden pattern together
- October 12: Rule of Three — spot the comedic pattern, then build on it instead of just repeating it
- October 19: Genre Replay — the same scene, rerun inside a completely different genre, forcing everyone to recognize (and reproduce) the tropes
- October 26: The Conductor Game — track and follow an emotional or rhythmic pattern being set live by one player
November: Quick Change — Cognitive Flexibility
- November 2: Freeze Tag — the instant character-and-scene switch
- November 9: World's Worst — rapid-fire category switching, no time to think
- November 16: Alphabet Scenes + Hot Spot — switch the rule mid-scene, keep the story alive, jump in and out on a beat
- November 23: Quick Change Showcase — a gratitude-themed closer tying flexibility to fresh ideas, right before the holiday (November 30th is a week off)
When: Mondays, 7:00-8:30 PM, running monthly — new topics added as they're announced
Where: Holly Chin Natick Academy of Performing Arts, 3 Vision Drive, Natick, MA
