A new play by Charlie Blanshard

Jorvik is an interactive, immersive Viking play set in the aftermath of the conquest of Eoforwic (York) and its rebirth as the legendary city; Jorvik.

Like the skalds of old shaped the sagas of today, Jorvik is an exciting piece of new writing that honours the great tradition of communal storytelling. Expect celebration, song, combat, larger than life characters and plenty of toasting.

Fun, fierce and with a lot of heart, Jorvik explores the modern day through the Viking lens. We aren’t as different from our ancestors as we think. Our desires, while modern at a glance, are deeply rooted in the same human condition: the obsession with glory, fate, and the need to be remembered.

Jorvik explores legacy, loss, glory and family, serving as a reminder that we need to enjoy life whilst we are still around to do so, and to cherish those we hold dear.

Charlie Blanshard and Oliver Strong are two Hull-based actors who developed their show together in the city they love and they can't wait to return, to close their national tour with three performances at Middle Child on Humber Street.
