The Midland Cultural Centre (MCC) cordially invites you to join us for the opening ceremony of the upcoming exhibition at the Midland Cultural Centre Gallery of Indigenous Art, “Then and Now: The Inspiration of Métis Decorative Arts - From the Collection of Scott Carpenter”. This exhibition will be featured in the Gallery from Oct 10th, 2024 to January 4th, 2025
Scott Carpenter is an influential figure in the Métis community, known for his dedication to preserving and promoting Métis culture and history. As a Métis cultural ambassador and historian, Carpenter showcases the rich heritage of the Métis people, and their unique traditions.
“Then and Now” focuses on the decorative arts of the Métis including artifacts from the past and contemporary times demonstrating the role they have played and continue to play in Métis culture and history. This exhibition includes traditional clothing, artwork, and other cultural items.
