Sun 19 Jan 2025 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Midland Cultural Centre - Rotary Hall, L4R3M7
Description
After years of traveling and bringing her music in its various forms to audiences across Canada, the US, and Ireland, Nonie Thompson has released seven CDs and is currently working on a new one. She performed with Altan and Clannad during a tour in Ireland in 2000 and has shared the stage with artists such as Pamela Morgan, Heather Bishop, Sylvia Tyson, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Lee Aaron, Tommy Makem, and Tony McManus.
Nonie is a member of the six-piece Celtic group The Celts, known for performing in larger theaters, but she has a deep love for intimate venues where she can connect more personally with audiences and showcase her self-penned songs. A prolific songwriter, she is also highly regarded for her arranging skills, which have set her apart and sustained her career on the festival and folk club circuits.
On January 19, Nonie Thompson will perform her original songs, including old favourites, newly written pieces, and a special song she wrote for her grandson, who will be coming into the world this Christmas. Nonie's songs will take you on a journey through her childhood, growing up on Broad Street and Water Street in Penetanguishene and Georgian Bay. Mostly known for recording and playing music with her Husband, Eugene Rea, who also has a wonderful connection with the MCC as the former General Manager.
