Get Creative!
We’d love everyone to get involved and have some fun creating their outfits! This is a costume competition, but don’t worry, we’re not expecting professional or Hollywood-style costumes. The most important thing is to have fun, be creative and make it your own.
Where possible, we’d encourage families to make, adapt or add to outfits rather than relying entirely on something shop-bought. This could be as simple as decorating an existing outfit, adding homemade accessories, or getting creative with things you already have at home.
We completely appreciate that every family has different amounts of time, confidence and ability when it comes to making costumes. Children will be judged with their age in mind, and we’ll take into account the level of adult help that would reasonably be expected for their age.
So whether you’re a keen crafter or someone who isn’t quite sure which end of the glue gun to hold, everyone is welcome to join in! We’re looking for imagination, creativity and a little bit of extra effort, not perfect sewing skills.
Most importantly, have fun with it and let your imagination run wild!
- Family-Friendly: Costumes must remain appropriate for toddlers. No excessive gore, nudity, or overly revealing clothing is allowed.
Outfits should avoid hurtful ethnic, religious, or cultural stereotypes. No political statements or historically sensitive costumes. (If you have to ask, it's probably a no) - Prop Weapons: Real weapons are strictly banned. Fake or toy weapons must look obviously fake and be made of safe materials like foam, plastic, or cardboard and must not be pointed or used on any other person.
- Mobility & Venue Safety: Costumes cannot drag heavily on the ground to prevent tripping. Avoid messy materials like loose glitter, liquid fake blood, or messy paint that can stain the venue. Wings can be worn for the competition but if they're excessively big, please remove before and after the stage show. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child during the event.
