Mozart wrote his Quintet for Clarinet for String Quartet in the finale months of his life. Enthralled by the superb playing of Anton Stadler on this newly created instrument, he created a sublime work of extraordinary beauty. The program concludes with a heartfelt and compelling work by one of Russia’s best composers of the late 19th century. Alexander Glazunov captures the drama and romance of a Tchaikovsky Ballet or a Rachmaninoff piano concerto.
