The Panic in Needle Park (1971)

Join us for Al Pacino's first leading role in a feature film with a script penned by the legendary Joan Didion. The Panic in Needle Park follows a couple's descent into heroin addiction amongst the throng of Manhattan's Upper West Side.

The film's cinéma-vérité style led to the film being banned completely in the UK until 1974 due to the realism and nature of its themes about life in active drug addiction. Despite its controversy, the film was nominated for a Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and received widespread critical acclaim.
