Mushroom Foraging Walk

Come and join Mila for a guided mushroom walk through ancient woodland, where all manner of amazing wild mushrooms are waiting to be discovered! 

Whether you're brand new to foraging, you've dabbled before, or you're as obsessed with mushrooms as I am but want to learn more about how to incorporate them into your life, this walk is the perfect way to learn about foraging for fungi.

Here's what to expect:

✸ We will begin with a brief introduction to the mysterious world of fungi, and go over basic rules of mushroom foraging to keep you safe and respect the land around you 

✸ Throughout the walk we'll meet a variety of edible, medicinal and toxic mushrooms

✸ We will talk about mushroom folklore, history, their ecological importance, traditional, medicinal and edible uses and how to tell the difference between toxic lookalikes 

✸ We will walk at a relaxed pace, stopping often with plenty of opportunities to chat and ask questions and talk about recipes

✸ At the end of the walk we’ll gather together to eat some light foraged snacks made with foraged ingredients inspired by our walk

In the week following the event you will be emailed a list of the mushrooms we’ve discovered and some book recommendations so you can continue along your foraging journey.

This walk will be limited to a small group of us to provide a more intimate setting and allow for people to ask questions and get to know each other. Please note, this will not be a gathering session so no containers or baskets will be necessary.

After booking, I will send you a reminder email a week before the event to confirm any allergies / dietary requests as well as send over the key info for the event. 

Please note before booking:

✸ This is an adult only event, thank you for your understanding!

✸ As much as I love dogs, for the comfort of the rest of the group please leave your dog at home, thank you.

✸ The snacks provided at the end of the walk will be suitable for vegans / vegetarians (please let me know in advance if you are vegan) but I am unable to cater to other dietary requests or serious allergies. Please let me know ahead of the walk if you have any allergies or dietary requests as some plants / fungi we encounter and the snacks provided may not be suitable for you. 

✸ If you can no longer make the event: please email info@milasapothecary.co.uk with 3 weeks notice and I can book you onto another scheduled walk or reserve your ticket credit for a future, unreleased date. If the event is less than 3 weeks away, date transfers cannot be issued and it will be your responsibility to gift/sell your ticket to a friend or family member. Due to the nature of this event cash refunds will not be issued. 

Accessibility:

Please note as we will be in the woods there are no toilets available.

The walk will be slow and mostly flat and we will go at the pace of everyone in the group, however we will be venturing off the main woodland paths so there will be uneven ground and branches to step over etc so unfortunately the walk won't be suitable for wheelchair users. 

Location:

Our walk will take place in Bishop's Stortford, less than a 10 minute drive from the town centre. The exact location will be sent to you after booking, in the week before the event. On street parking can be found a short walk from our meeting point, please reach out once I share the location if you need help with where to park.
