Phytogram Workshop – Printing with Plants
This workshop is part of the Alternative Processes programme at The Process Room, join us to explore the experimental photographic technique of phytograms.

What are Phytograms?
Participants will experiment with camera-less photography using plants, light and photographic materials, discovering how botanical matter can create images through phytograms and lumen printing : cameraless photographic images made using sunlight and photographic paper.

The session will include demonstrations, guided experimentation and time to produce finished works. The workshop explores the intersection of photography, botany and chance through darkroom-free image making, encouraging playful experimentation in a relaxed environment. Through working with natural materials and sunlight, participants will explore a more sustainable and alternative approach to photography.

Participants will leave with :
Participants will leave with knowledge and understanding of the process, their own phytograms on 35mm negative strips and a small set of lumen prints made during the workshop. The film strips can be beautiful objects in themselves, or they can be scanned after the workshop or used in the darkroom to create experimental prints.
