Fungi is sometimes known as nature's "hidden kingdom", being much more mysterious and less well-known than animals and plants. As the distance between us and what we eat has grown, we have forgotten a lot about wild mushrooms, and maybe even come to fear them. But more recently there's been a rediscovery of the intriguing beauty and potential of fungi.

2024 is already looking like a very good year for mushrooms, so join us for a guided forage with fungi expert Colin Unsworth from Forest Horizons. Colin will explain how to identify different species, warning signs to look out for, and give tips and advice for successful foraging. No previous knowledge of mushrooms required.

We'll be meeting in the lower car park of the Norfolk Arms at 10am on Saturday 16th November, before heading into the woods at Lady Canning's plantation. There should be a wide range of species to see and discover, and depending on numbers there may be a chance to cook and eat some finds at the end!

This event is exclusively for Tribune subscribers. Tickets are £24, which includes four hours of expert-led foraging. And afterwards, a few of us will be heading to the Norfolk Arms if you want to join for a drink.

You'll need to bring suitable footwear for a walk in the woods, and we'll stop halfway through for lunch - bring a pack-up with you!
