Our annual “Walk Into History” is back in 2022 on Sunday, May 29, 2022 from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm!
Relive the heyday of the Mt. Tamalpais Scenic Railway during the early 20th century. Learn about the roles of Engine No. 9 and the "Lee Street Local", the Japanese style village built by George Marsh, local suffragists and other early residents along the route of the Railway through Blithedale Canyon. At the Plaza, displays and docents will have more history about topics such as the Mountain Railway's beginning, feature and end, the historic Depot buildings and the destructive wildfires of 1899 and 1929.
Purchase tickets for the guided tours. Non-ticket holders can enjoy the Plaza displays.
Guided walking tours start in front of the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce office on Throckmorton Avenue and follow the route through Blithedale Canyon for about 1 1/2 miles. Tours will return to the Plaza at the end of the walking tour via shuttle bus. The City of Mill Valley will allow attendees to extend 2-hour parking for an extra hour, with a permit from MVHS. Get your permit when you check in for your tour.
NOTE: Two tours, at 10:30 and 1:30, do NOT have shuttle bus return to the Plaza--ticket holders for these two tours will walk back to the Plaza, a total round trip of approximately 3 miles.
Newly added: the 3:00 tour is especially designed for families! Parents must accompany children under 14 years old. Sign up today for the family tour!
Marin County and City of Mill Valley COVID regulations in place at the time of the Walk will apply.
No refunds after purchase of tickets.
