'What is the good of your stars and trees, your sunrise and the wind, if they do not enter into our daily lives?' — E.M. Forster
As part of MK Walking Festival, in partnership with The Parks Trust, join us for this literary walk as the writers of Milton Keynes take you to Howe Park Wood for words of wisdom, celebration and insight - and entertainment too, of course - and a spot of shinrin-yoku. ('Forest bathing' for the non-Japanese speakers amongst us.)
We're celebrating more than just the wonders of nature - and the beauty of Howe Park, an ancient woodland part of which may be surviving fragments of the 'wildwood' that covered lowland Britain after the last Ice Age, 6-11,000 years ago. We're also celebrating the sixth issue of MinK, MK Lit Fest's annual anthology of the very best local poetry, short stories and creative non-fiction. The latest issue - launched at our April Festival - curates pieces written in response to our chosen theme of 'The Trees'. So join us for a 90 minute excursion to meet some of the trees that inspired them, and some of the writers that they inspired!
Please note that many of the paths are unmade, and appropriate walking footwear is strongly advised. Cafe and WC facilities will be available at the beginning and end of this wealk.
Book a free place now or just turn on the day. Meet us outside Grounds Café, Howe Park Wood at 2pm!
